An Edimax extender can show a strong signal while delivering much lower speeds than the main router. This is common because the extender has to receive data from the router and then transmit it to your phone, laptop, smart TV or game console. The same wireless link may therefore carry traffic twice, reducing practical throughput.
Slow performance can also come from placement, interference, incompatible wireless settings, an overloaded channel or a weak connection between the extender and router.
